Hello
First of all it was great meeting you in South
Africa in December. Thank you for the gift of the
Tri-Vortex™ disc. I used it as soon as I arrived
home, as we were doing a synchronized AI
program. There were 615 maiden heifers AI’d,
in the program which lasted a week. The straws
were placed on the Tri-Vortex™ disc for between 5
and 9 minutes, for 286 of the heifers.
Now this is the exiting news….
We have had them all ultrasound, of the 286, 259
of the heifers that had the straws placed on the Tri-Vortex™
disc are certified in calf. = 90.5%
Of the 329 that were not placed on the disc
only 219 were certified in calf. = 66.5%
Now I don’t have to be a rocket scientist to
work out what this means.
For instance, had I used the disc on all of
them I would have got an extra 78 calves!
Plus my semen loss of 78 @ $19.5 = total semen
loss of $1521
All these heifers are handled the same way they
are in one big camp and get the same feed and
management. So the only difference is that disc
you gave me.
Now this is very exiting and I was pleased to here
you have a Thawing Plunger that the semen can
stand in for the holding, as some of the straws
would roll off that disc - so we used to put 2
coins on either end.
This is the best thing I have used this past year,
what makes it even more exiting was that I only
met you by chance and am I glad I did.
Let me know of any other smart ideas you have
I’m ready to try them. My cowboys and I were
sceptical about this, but are they impressed….. Our
loss over the last 5 years of not using your
Tri-Vortex™ disc/tube runs into hundreds of
thousands of dollars. You guys keep this up
and the people using this method could save a
great deal of money. I want to also try your water
story (filtering it and putting a big disc in the
troughs).
The price for the Thawing Plunger at $200 is good
and please send me 2 of them.
Regards
Chad Tomlinson
